The most important fact about myself is that I am a writer. I am a writer because I write, not because my work is read. I am 15 years old. I'm a sophomore at a prestigious Catholic high school where I break the dress code daily. I started writing poetry when I was about 7 years old. I was born in Chile and lived there until I was 9 years old. When I moved to this country, I lived in New Jersey and I've stayed here since. About a year or two afterwards I realized that what I wanted to do was to write for a living. But writing isn't what it seems. It's work, and if it's not something you enjoy, then you're going nowhere. It's not something you can do to get rich and famous. It rarely pays. Despite much discouragement from my elders, I knew that this was something I couldn't give up. Would you give up talking to your best friend if people told you you could never profit from the friendship? I'm just a 15 year old girl who strives everyday to make herself happy, to do what is right, and to never compromise her essence. I have been through a lot and I have a lot to say about it. My story "This is Me" shows a raw and offensive side of me. My stories are 100% non-fiction. They are true to their time and have now become part of my past. I am always evolving and finding out new things to write about.
